Northern California - July 2018

Day 1

Getting ready to head out on our annual motorcycle trip. This year we are heading to Northern California, the Redwood Forests and the beautiful coast line of Hwy 101.

Day 2

Through Lassen National Park and Trinity/Shasta National Park. Made new friends with the Jehovah Witnesses, Graham and his wife Eva.

We just discovered that the hotel we are staying in is haunted. The old Eureka Inn, which was built in 1922, in Eureka California . We may have a few stories to tell after tonight.

Day 3

The California Redwoods. Redwood National and State Parks reside in the North Coast of California and Oregon. The North Coast is a loosely defined region from about Ukiah, CA inland and Fort Bragg, CA on the coast, extending to Josephine County in Oregon. When travelling on Highway 101 south to north, you'll notice a distinct change in vegetation from California oak woodlands to the Douglas-fir/coast redwood forests and a very moist climate.

Days 4 and 5

Down the Coast to San Francisco then on to Lake Tahoe.

Days 6 and 7

Left The coolness of Tahoe and had 2 days of heat going across Nevada. Made it home safe and sound. It was a wonderful trip.

Crossing Nevada I turned over 100,000 miles on my Honda VTX 1300. These were all original miles I put on this bike over the years. It has been an awesome bike with very few problems.
