3/21/22 San Jose, CA police said that a man was riding a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle east on Story Road approaching Capitol Expressway in the right lane when he went off the roadway and hit an electrical box on the south curbside, then hit a light pole. Yes ? Yes. Maintaining a safe speed and control of the motorcycle could have avoided leaving the road.
3/22/22 Anderson County, SC Highway Patrol troopers said the driver of a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle lost control and spilled into the roadway. They said he then continued off the road and hit a concrete barrier. Yes ? Yes. The driver lost control. Although it didn't say that speed was a factor, it could have been a factor in losing control.
3/20/22 COLUMBIANA COUNTY, OH A motorcycle crash took the life of one male on Sunday afternoon. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Cameron Marshall, 19, of Hanoverton was traveling south on East Liverpool Road when he failed to negotiate a turn. The motorcycle then went into the other lane and collided head on with a 2018 Ford SUV. Marshall was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene. One passenger in the SUV suffered minor injuries. Yes ? Yes Speed was a factor. Approaching a curve at a safe speed to navigate the curve avoids motorcycle accidents.
3/18/22 Mesa, AZ A van was making a left turn into a business when it did not yield for the motorcycle. Passenger on the motorcycle was killed in the crash. Yes ? Possibly. It is always important to look for vehicles turning left in front of you and anticipate them not seeing you.
3/17/22 BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. A 2004 Kawasaki Motorcycle was traveling north on Lebanon Road ran off the left side of the road, hit a ditch, then a utility pole, Lance Cpl. Nick Pye says. Yes ? Possibly. The report doesn't indicate if the rider was speeding or had a medical or mechanical issue. But he was not able stay on the road.
3/17/22 Northwest, WA The investigation showed the driver of a Toyota Sienna van was heading south on Georgia Avenue and was turning left onto Howard Place when it collided with a 2019 Yamaha motorcycle, according to police. Police said in a statement the operator of the motorcycle was traveling “at an excessive rate of speed.” Yes ? Possibly. Report said that the motorcyclist was traveling at an excessive rate of speed.
3/15/22 Oakland, CA Reports indicate that two men on motorcycles were speeding west on Foothill when one of them failed to stop at a stop sign. As a result, the rider slammed into a passenger truck that was heading north on 4th Avenue. Yes ? Yes. Speed was a factor and could have been avoided through driving at a responsible speed and stopping at the stop sign, as well as entering the intersection cautiously.
3/15/22 Goddard, KS Layne Eberle was driving the motorcycle left the roadway to the left, went into the ditch and then hit a wall at 39th St S & 247th St W. Yes ? Yes. Speed could have been a factor. Could have maintained control of his bike.
3/14/22 St. George, UT The motorcyclist was headed south on Bluff Street in the outside lane of travel, which is when the rider reportedly came upon an unattended Spin e-scooter lying in the roadway near the right shoulder. The rider was “very seriously” injured and was transported to St. George Regional Hospital in serious condition. No No Possibly could have been avoid if the rider was looking down the road for any obstructions or debris on the road.
3/13/22 Daytona Beach, FL Was northbound on Ridgewood Avenue at a high rate of speed, and when he entered the intersection at Mason Avenue, slammed into the front of a Dodge Ram pickup that was making a left turn east on Mason Avenue. Yes ? Yes. Could have entered intersection at a cautiously slower speed anticipating driver to turn in front of him.
3/12/22 Naples, FL The motorcyclist was traveling east when the sedan turned left in front of him. The motorcycle hit the sedan's rear tire. Yes ? Possibly. By anticipating that the vehicle driver did not see him, and prepared to slow down and brake.
3/12/22 Fort Myers, FL The motorcyclist was approaching a slight curve at Riverwalk Park Boulevard when he lost control of his motorcycle. Yes ? Yes. Approaching curves at a safe speed, and being more alert of your lane of traffic. Motorcycle accidents can be reduced by approaching curves in the road at a slower speed.
3/12/22 Daytona Beach, FL Rider ran a safety arm to a draw bridge and bike was dangling over the end of the bridge. No ? Yes, by being alert to the safety arm and obeying traffic laws.
3/10/22 Durham, CA Rider lost control on a left curve in the road, drifted off the east shoulder and went down a dirt embankment. Yes ? Yes, by looking down the road and approaching a curve at a safe speed.
3/9/22 Manatee County, FL Lost control while entering a left-hand curve, left the roadway and collided with a pole. Yes ? Speed appeared to be a factor and this accident could have been avoided.
2/19/22 Kearns, UT Two men were riding their motorcycles together when one of the man went off the road to the right and hit a curb. The rider went down and his friend stopped to call for help. Officers found the man in "extremely critical condition" with a head injury. No No It appears that the rider lost control of his motorcycle and veered off the road. So paying better attention to his surroundings and safely riding with another motorcycle.
